I found an active player who has no icon picture. I thought the player had left the game, since their icon picture is blank. I was able to attack their city many times to clear it completely of resources. I made over 30 trips, sending 10 attacks at a time to clear it. Then I noticed that on the next round of trips, it had more resources than it had previous, so I knew that the city was still being played. I don't know how I was able to repeat so many attacks or why this city still does not have an icon. I watched it for a few days and it appears to be still being played by someone. Yet, it still has no icon, as if it were a city abandoned. I would never have attacked if I had known that it was not an abandoned city. I didn't think you were supposed to be able to repeat attacks over and over on the same player, unless their city was abandoned. But this city is not an abandoned city. It does look like one though.
Missing icon picture

Please note:
It's been a few days since this happened and that player is still playing and he still does not have an icon picture.

If that player has a score bigger than you - you can attack it multiple times
-
Him not having a picture says nothing, he just did not pick one. A player is innactive only when his city turns sand on world map.

I was not able to start my game without choosing an icon. there was no way to close that first window without choosing one.
As for being able to attack him. No, he was not a bigger city. Not in score or anything in his city. My army was all more, my score was higher and all of my buildings and researches were leveled higher than his.

chosing an icon is part of a quest not obligatory to carry on with the game....
-
It's ALWAYS been obligatory for me in my game to choose an icon first. I can't even start a city until I choose an icon. I've tried to do exactly that several times, to no avail. If it were not obligatory, I would expect to see more players without icons. Yet I've only ever seen this one player without an icon who's actively playing.
As for being able to repeatedly attack, his score was not higher than me. I have the higher score. In addition, not a single one of his buildings or research is higher. I'm not complaining about it. I just didn't know that you could attack the same player over and over again. 'Only reason I did, was that I mistakenly thought he'd left the game.
