• General information

In Anocris you will find two types of units: combat units and support units. Whether a unit belongs to one or another group, matters in terms of their battle participation order. It is always combat units that join battles first. Only when all combat units have been destroyed, will support units join the battle. The stats of each unit (strength, stamina, weakness, carrying capacity, speed, and rates) are featured in the Sekhmet Temple for each unit separately.

    Combat Units

The role of combat units is mainly either attack or defense. There are also units that can be used for both purposes. A look at the unit stats in the Sekhmet Temple will give you exact information about which unit serves which purpose best (e.g. Ra warriors are excellent defenders thanks to their high stamina value).

Order when joining battle; damage distribution: It is always combat units that join the battle first, and it is also the units that are first to be hit. In doing so, they back up support units and protect them until no single combat unit is available.

Combat units are: Hyksos, Khopesh soldier, Medjay, Ra Warrior, Charioteer, High Priest, Anubis Warrior, Scorpion King.

    Support units

These are the units whose turn to join battle is only when there are no combat units left, i.e. after they have all been destroyed. As a result, even if these units are weak compared to combat units, they can only be destroyed when there is no combat unit left to protect them. Each of these units has a specific function that they perform in the game.

Support units are: Bedouin, Nubian trader, Babylonian merchant, Wabau, Sesh, Vizier, Neith priestess.

    Unit stats

Strength: This value indicates how strong a unit is when attacking. The higher the strength of a unit, the more suitable it is for attack purposes (e.g. Charioteer, Medjay).

Stamina: This value indicates how strong a unit is when defending. If a unit has a high stamina value, it is well suited for defensive purposes (e.g. Ra Warrior).

Weakness: The higher the weakness value of a unit, the faster or easier it can be destroyed. Units whose weakness is low (e.g. Anubis Warrior, Scorpion King) can often not be destroyed in the first battle round.

Cargo: Indicates how many resources a unit can carry. There are special units for resource transport (Babylonian merchant, Nubian trader) with a comparatively high carrying capacity; some units cannot transport any resources at all, whereas some other units (such as Khopesch soldier, Charioteer) can do both: fight and transport resources.

Speed: Indicates how fast a unit can get from A to B on the world map. If units of different types are sent together, the speed of the whole troop is determined by the slowest unit.

Rates: This is the cost in wheat that each unit requires to travel. The higher the (wheat) rate, the more wheat is required for each trip.

  • Bedouin

    Type: Support unit

    Function: Spying on the opponent.

To get a spy report, one or more Bedouins must be sent via the command "Spy".

    Advantages: high speed

Disadvantages: high weakness value, no carrying capacity.

    Nubian trader

    Type: Support unit

Function: Basic unit for resource transport

Advantages: comparatively high speed, low recruitment costs, good carrying capacity (basic capacity of 2,200 without bonuses), suitable for carrying small to medium sized resource quantities.

Disadvantages: high weakness value; not suitable for transportation of large resource volumes.

    Babylonian merchant

    Type: Support unit

Function: advanced unit for resource transport

Advantages: high carrying capacity (without bonuses: 13,200), suitable for transporting large quantities of resources.

Disadvantages: high weakness value, low speed.

    Sesh

    Type: Support unit

Function: calculates the precision value of units, which, in turn, influences the strength value of each unit.

The highest strength bonus is 50%. To get this bonus, 2 Sesh per unit must be sent into battle.

Advantages: low recruitment costs; allows up to 50% more strength for the whole troop.

Disadvantages: if the army consists of many units, you need a corresponding number of Sesh units to get the full bonus.

    Wabau

    Type: Support unit

Function: heal the wounded in each battle round, who return to their ranks immediately afterwards ("regeneration bonus").

The highest regeneration bonus is 50%. To get this bonus, 2 Wabau per unit must be sent into battle.

Advantages: low recruitment costs; allows up to 50% regeneration for the whole troop.

Disadvantages: if the army consists of many units, you may need lots of Wabau units to get the full bonus.

    Hyksos spearman

    Type: Combat unit

Function: Basic combat unit; protects stronger (and more expensive) units, because it is always the first to be hit in battle due to a relatively high weakness value.

Advantages: low recruitment cost, low recruitment time.

    Disadvantages: high weakness value.

    Khopesh soldier

    Type: Combat unit

Function: can be used for both attack and defense; protect stronger (and more expensive) units on account of his high weakness value.

Advantages: favorable price/performance ratio; can both fight and transport resources.

    Cons: ---

    Medjay

    Type: Combat unit

    Function: Attack unit

Advantages: favorable price/performance ratio, perfect for attacks

    Disadvantages: no carrying capacity.

    Ra Warrior

    Type: Combat unit

    Function: Defense

Advantages: favorable price/performance ratio, perfect defender

    Disadvantages: no carrying capacity.

    Charioteer

    Type: Combat unit

    Function: advanced attack unit

Advantages: high attack value, low weakness value, high carrying capacity & speed

Disadvantages: not very cheap; longer recruitment times.

    Vizier

    Type: Support unit

    Function: Foundation of new settlements

If you wish to found a new settlement, you will need to recruit one Vizier. Once this is done, go to the World Map, select the location for your new settlement, then send the Vizier to the chosen location via the command "Found City". To speed up the progress of your new settlement, you can send a few units with some carrying capacity along with the Vizier, and load them with resources. Note that only a few units can be sent this way. Also, do not send a lot of resources, since the new settlement still has no Warehouse and thus the storage space is limited.

Advantages: high carrying capacity (5,500 without bonuses), can carry resources to the new settlement, which speeds up the founding process.

    Disadvantages: low speed.

    Anubis Warrior

    Type: Combat unit

    Function: advanced defense unit

Advantages: extremely high stamina value (very difficult to destroy), low weakness value (one of the last units to be hit in battle).

Disadvantages: no carrying capacity; low speed.

    Scopion King

    Type: Combat unit

    Function: advanced attack unit

Advantages: extremely high attack value, low weakness value, extremely difficult to destroy

Disadvantages: no carrying capacity, low speed.

  • Neith priestess

Type: Support unit with special functions

Function: attacks the opponent’s support units in the very first battle round (normally, support units are the last to be hit, unless the opponent has Neith priestesses in their ranks).

    Special features:

    • Can only be recruited during special events (which are usually announced in- game and on the forum). Otherwise, you can win them by spinning the Dendera wheel.
    • This is a unit that can change sides from defender to attacker if certain conditions are fulfilled:

If defender loses battle AND if the unit was in troop of the defender.

The unit does not switch sides, if it was:

    - In the troop of the attacker;

    - If the attacker does not win the battle.

Thus, if you want Neith priestesses to joint your troops, 1) you must be attacker; 2) defender must have Neith priestesses in his troop that participate in the battle; 3) you win.

You will get no Neith priestesses if 1) you are defender, not attacker – even if you win the battle 2) if being attacker, you lose the battle.

    Advantages:

The Neith priestess can destroy support units of the opponent right at the beginning of a battle, in its very first round, which can give you a noticeable strategic advantage over your opponent (otherwise, support units cannot be hit as long as there are any combat units left). If you win the battle and your opponent has Neith priestesses in his ranks, they will join your troops.

    Disadvantages:

The Neith priestess can be kidnapped by the winner; their strength is only directed against other support units, it cannot hit combat units (i.e. their strength is zero when attacking combat units).

  • High Priest

Type: Combat unit with special functions

Function: Spying on enemy troops when they are on the move (special function).

Otherwise, a strong combat unit/attack unit.

    - The special function of the high priest is to report on enemy troops as soon as they start moving, i.e. as soon as they leave their city.

    - To use this special function, the high priest must be sent by the command "Espionage".

    - If the espionage mission is successful, you will receive a troop activity report. This report shows the troops of the opponent that are on the way, i.e. that are outside the city limits (the usual espionage function allows only reports about troops stationed in a city).

Contents of a troop activity report:

    - City of departure;

    - target city;

    - arrival time at the target,

    - troop composition (types of units, amount of units), and

    - resources.

Chances for obtaining a troop activity report:

Decisive is the number of high priests sent to spy, and the number of high priests in the opponent’ troop. If you have more high priests than the opponent, you will get a full report. If your opponent has more high priests, you will get a report with limited information (stating only the starting point and the city of destination of opponent's troops).

    - For each successful spy mission, i.e. for each delivered troop activity report, one high priest is “used up” (in other words, each espionage mission involving high priests is carried out at the cost of one high priest).

    - The player who receives a visit from a high priest will receive a notification about it (under "Notifications").

    Special features:

    - In order to obtain a troop activity report, high priests must be sent via the command “Spy” (not “Attack”). If sent via “attack”, high priests will attack the opponent’s troops, but you won’t receive the troop activity report.

    - If you send your troops out of the city on a “Saving mission” (that is, to secure them while you’re absent), and you have high priests in your ranks, you will need to use “Attack” mission instead of “Espionage” for this purpose, and abandoned cities of (low score) players instead of low level nomad camps, in order to avoid loss of one high priest that is charged for each espionage mission with high priests.

    - High priests can only be recruited during special events (by announcement in the game and on the forum).

    - High priests are units that change sides to the winner’s army when a battle is lost. However, this only occurs when the loser is the defender. If, however, it is the attacker who loses battle, high priests do not change sides and do not join the troops of the defender. This means that you can only obtain these units in the course of an attack if 1) it is you who attacks 2) it is you who wins the battle 3) the defender had high priests in his troop.

Advantages: gives you a unique advantage over your opponent's troop movement. A strong and fast combat unit.

Disadvantages: in case of an attack with high priests and in case of victory on the side of the attacker, the defender will lose his high priests to the winner.
